Jeff Nabers
President & CEO

As a mortgage banker, Jeff Nabers became aware of self-directed IRA investing in 2002. Instantly captivated, he set off on an extraneous process of research. Initially, he aimed to form real estate partnerships with his personal contacts while including retirement funds. After referring his contacts to various self-directed IRA custodians, he realized that these custodian corporations were often creating more problems than they were solving.

Jeff then founded Nabers Group, originally as a consulting firm to help self-directed IRA investors who sought guidance that their custodian, administrator, or facilitator could not provide. Over time, Jeff further realized that the majority of the problems he was hired to fix could have been avoided if the individual would have started off on the right foot - with an extremely knowledgeable and capable self-directed retirement plan provider. Because his idea of a utopian provider did not exist, he shifted Nabers Group to become that utopian provider.

Recognizing the IRA LLC as a powerful alternative to the fee-ridden & delay-ridden experience of transacting only through IRA custodians, Jeff negotiated an exclusive licensing agreement with the creator of the special-purpose IRA LLC, attorney Debra Buchanan. While many others have plagiarized Buchanan's IRA LLC system, only Nabers Group has received revisions, updates, and support from Buchanan.

In late 2006, changes in retirement account law expanded the usefulness of the Solo 401(k). Nabers Group became the first plan provider to offer the most capable investment vehicle available to Americans: the self-directed, self-administered, self-trustee Solo 401(k).
Phoebe Chongchua
Vice President, Communications

Phoebe Chongchua has a 20-year background in journalism, marketing, and customer service. She specializes in real estate writing and her work is featured in: Donald Trump's book "The Best Real Estate Advice I Ever Received", The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Buying Foreclosures, and her own book, If the Trash Stinks: TAKE IT OUT! 14 Worriless Principles For Your Success. Phoebe began her career in TV as an anchor and news reporter for ABC News in San Diego, California. She holds a real estate license in California and continues to write and educate consumers on real estate and financial issues in various columns and publications online and in print. She is a columnist for Realty Times, Bizymoms Expert on Real Estate, and the publisher of Live Fit Magazine.

Phoebe took a great interest in researching investing in alternative assets using retirement vehicles such as the IRA LLC and Solo 401(k) after writing numerous articles on the subject and realizing how little the average consumer understands this highly powerful method of investing.

She began working with Jeff Nabers in 2002 when he founded the IRA Association of America. Today, Phoebe serves as the VP of Communications for Nabers Group and is helping to spread the Unlimited® Investing message to the millions of Americans yearning for a better way to invest. The 2009 agenda includes the relaunch of Unlimited Retirement Account® Radio with Phoebe as producer and co-host as well as the co-authoring, with Jeff Nabers, of a book to be the definitive guide to alternative investments.
Ryan Ballman
Vice President, Technology

Ryan Ballman received a BS in Computer Engineering from Texas A&M University. He worked at Dell computers in Austin, TX for a short while before partnering with Jeff Nabers in 2005. As the Vice President of Technology, Ryan creates and maintains proprietary custom software solutions that make Nabers Group the most technologically advanced company in the self-directed IRA/401k field.

Leveraging the technology that Ryan provides allows us to operate like a 100 employee company with less than 20 employees. The decreased cost of operations allows us to offer our retirement plan establishment services at a fraction of the cost of our competitors. Additionally, we are able to provide unmatched customer support thanks to the efficiency afforded by our custom software platform.
Bruce Pember, CPA
Client Services Representative

Bruce Pember is a former CPA, financial planner and tax specialist. After 25 years in the financial services arena, He retired from practice and began to seek out information on self-directed IRA and 401(k) investing. That search led him to Nabers Group where he became a client, and his interest in our services grew so much, Bruce became an employee. He brings an important, experienced perspective to our company, and his passion to help optimize an individual's investment endeavors is a strong asset to our clients.
Justin Windham
Client Services Manager

Justin's invaluable place in the Nabers team dates back to his role as a loan originator and processor in Nabers' mortgage office in Myrtle Beach, SC. As the housing bubble soared past sanity, Nabers sold his mortgage company, and Justin was brought on board with Nabers Group in 2007. Justin is a very quick learner and continues to expand his expertise as he manages the Client Services Department.

Robert Montgomery, Attorney at Law

Robert (Bob) Montgomery has been counseling and incorporating businesses for more than 25 years. He's a former business owner himself and has been corporate legal counsel for numerous small business corporations. He's presented lectures and seminars on the benefits and procedures involved with incorporating or forming LLC's and how to operate them for maximum benefit.

Bob ensures that our clients' entity formations are processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner.
Cile Nabers
Shipping & Receiving Clerk

As Jeff Nabers' mother, Cile's interest in Jeff's business eventually turned to involvement. In our San Antonio office, Cile handles all printing, shipping and receiving for the company.

Cile graduated from Trinity University with a BA in Fine Arts and is happily married to Jeff's father, Mark Nabers, who recently retired from the field of natural gas compression engineering.
Steven R. Pitzner, Attorney at Law, CPA
General Counsel

As an attorney and CPA with substantial knowledge and experience in the financial services industry, Steve Pitzner understands the value of self-directed retirement accounts and private equity funds. He has a securities background with active securities and financial planning licenses and designations.

Steve has substantive private practice law firm experience with mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions, banking, estate planning, tax, real estate, business organizations, business litigation, probate, and bankruptcies. While in private practice with a Dallas law firm, he supervised the liquidation of two major savings and loans for a federal agency and handled substantive securities arbitration matters for a regional Dallas securities firm. Steve has also represented a major national equipment manufacturing trade association in Washington on national regulatory and legislative matters.
Jennifer Finke
Public Relations Specialist

Jennifer Finke has lead public relations initiatives for companies from a variety of industries, including professional services, financial, real estate and consumer companies. She has worked at two of the most elite public relations firms in the world, Burson-Marsteller and Hill & Knowlton. Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Journalism, and she earned dual degrees with high honors in Journalism and Japanese studies. She resides in a Denver suburb with her husband and two children.

Most people simply lack the awareness of the true capabilities of IRA & 401(k) investing. Jennifer plays an integral role at Nabers Group as increasing that awareness continues to be the driving force behind our company's success.
Faustin Lukumuena, CPA

Faustin Lukumuena has over 20 years of experience in accounting – tax, auditing, business consulting and finance with Big 5 accounting firms and other large corporations. He has an MBA in Accounting from Regis University in Denver, CO.
